Personal Credo #13

February 3, 2009

I believe that categorization is killing the world, causing more deaths than any natural disease known to mankind. Our tendency to group and label and place and detect differences is the thing that kills us most. And I believe it is impossible to get rid of, that the human mindset will always be obsessed with the differences between people and not their similarities.

And I do not believe it is completely a bad thing. Without this strange brand of categorization, we would not be able to process the world; our brains would overload with information. This does not mean I relish it, though.

Anyway, if we did not have these problems, I would be out of a job before I ever had one; the arts rely mostly on pain and problems and categorization and speaking one opinion or another on the matter.

Personal Credo #10

January 31, 2009

I believe that politics is a necessary evil, a set of checks and balances, a blight that is so integral in life it cannot be killed off, but can only be made fun of. It is is a noxious scent one learns to live with, one must live with or die. I believe politics is in every interaction encountered. I believe this should be not so. I believe it is impossible to make it go away unless we purge the world of all civilization and hope for the best on the second run for human intelligence and understanding.
